AT&T began the process of shutting down their 3G network on February 22, 2022 to upgrade its network technology, paving the way for better coverage and performance.
Option 2: Upgrade the Circuit Board for a Permanent Fix
When the AT&T 3G network is shut down, your DoorKing Cellular Device will no longer provide voice communications from your Telephone Entry / Access Control System. Installing this Service Upgrade ensures your cellular service will be uninterrupted and your Entry System will continue operating.

You may have heard this called “3G Sunset”. This change is being made by AT&T and other cellular providers and will effect a multitude of devices and customers, from alarm systems to solar systems, roadside assistance, security cameras, and some DoorKing Cellular devices.
HOW TO FIND THIS NUMBER
What are my Service Upgrade options?
The AT&T 3G network will not be shut down all at once. AT&T has not provided any schedule of where or when the 3G cellular network will be shut down across the country.

Login to your DKS cellular account to get the cellular telephone number, or have someone place a call to a resident from the entry system and note the caller ID number.
Our understanding is that AT&T will begin to shut down 3G cell towers in certain area codes across the country. We do not know what area codes will be initially affected and we do not know how long it will take AT&T to shut down their entire 3G network.
Why do I need a Service Upgrade?
Your Circuit Board Serial Number
Simply call DKS Tech Support and a DKS Technician will switch your device over to the AT&T VoLTE (Voice over 4G LTE) network for voice communications. Once Tech Support switches your device to VoLTE, you will need to power down and then power up to connect to the VoLTE network. If the device is not powered down after the switch, it will automatically connect but that may take up to 3 hours. Voice communications will then be re-established and visitors will be able to talk to residents. You may also notice an improvement in call quality.
You'll need to contact DoorKing Tech Support to review your Service Upgrade options.
Visitors using the Entry System will only hear a busy signal when they attempt to make a call.

*Option 1 Note: After the Service Upgrade the Entry System will no longer permit residents to open the gate by pressing "9". A guest entry code will need to be programmed, and residents will verbally tell guests to hang up and enter "pound, 4-digit entry code". If you want residents to retain the ability to unlock the gate for guests by pressing "9", please see Service Upgrade Option 2.

Administrators attempting to call the system will only hear a busy signal.
To return the system to full service, which will allow residents to continue using "9" to open the door/gate, the circuit board in the cellular device will need to be upgraded. To upgrade the circuit board, contact our Tech Support team to order the correct circuit board and learn how to contact a DKS Installer. Voice communications will then be re-established and visitors will be able to talk to residents. You may also notice an improvement in call quality.
Note: If a new SIM card is needed the Entry System phone number will change when the system is upgraded.
In short, your Entry System will no longer be able to make calls.
