DoorKing in the UK!  A major utility site in Birmingham, England was presented with the problem of how to secure their site after working hours.  The site is the second largest sewage works in Europe, and it belongs to a local utility provider in the UK.  After consultation with the client’s architects, it was decided to use the “Super-Wide” Bi-Parting gate manufactured by Paramount Security Group.

Richard Dewberry, Installation Manager for Paramount Security stated, “The gates were designed as a BI-Parting configuration to cover a road width of 20 meters (66 ft) between curbs, each gate leaf having a 10m (33 ft) road covering and being a total length of 14 meters (46 ft).  The gates are manufactured from steel section and clad with high security mesh, then hot dipped galvanized to provide long weather protection in the poor weather conditions we have in the UK.  The gates arrived on site by two articulated Lorries; and were lifted into place using a 100 ton crane.”

The “Super Wide Gate” as it is known in the UK, has become a popular choice for utility companies and local authorities due to its heavy construction and resistance to attack.  The gates are fitted with the DoorKing 9200 series operators as they are capable of handling large heavy duty gates. The drive pick up chain is fitted into a channel on the gate to prevent chain sag and to increase chain life over the large span.
